Music and drama at SCOTS PGC are a vibrant extension of school life. There are choirs, a biennial musical, performance groups and many opportunities for those interested in the Performing Arts to find their feet at SCOTS PGC.
Students can join the following groups:
Those who undertake music in the Senior School are encouraged to participate in at least one co-curricular ensemble. Individual private lessons can be arranged for most instruments, voice and speech communication.
Our College has a long tradition of choral participation. Boys and girls can choose to be part of performance groups in all year levels and these are non-selective and encourage participation across all abilities. Whether they’re just getting started, or are looking to sharpen vocal skills, we focus on promoting an enjoyment of singing and performance.
Annual events include assemblies, chapel services, the Uniting Church Spring Fair and Speech Day performances. Here, the emphasis for children in the Choir is on enjoyment, participation and confidence building. Competition in regional eisteddfods where possible as well as participating at significant College events including ANZAC Day and Speech Days are highlights throughout the year.
The College presents a musical every second year, with students playing a major part in its production, direction, casting, lighting, publicity, front of house, orchestral arrangement, stage management, props and set design.
Every alternate year the Senior Drama Class produce a small cast production highlighting the different elements of performance require in such productions.
Students can participate in a number of bands across the College, including the iconic Pipes & Drums, the emerging and popular Rock Band and a String Ensemble.
College ensembles and bands are not audition based and participation by all students is welcome. Most ensembles play at College events as well as on Assembly.
