"The key to learning something new? Breaking down ideas, being tenacious in the face of failure and enjoying the learning process."

Mark Richards

Director of learning and innovation

Masters of Science Physics and Astronomy, Masters of Science (Open) Science Education, Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Science), Graduate Diploma of Strategic Leadership

As a former physicist with a Masters in Physics and Astronomy and a Masters in Science Education, Mark Richards’ love of learning comes as little surprise.

It’s a passion he brings to his role at SCOTS PGC and one that has informed his approach to building a teaching and learning framework that challenges and inspires.

Mark believes there are several keys to learning something new – the ability to break down ideas, being tenacious in the face of failure and enjoying the learning process. As an experienced educator, he draws on evidence-based practices to help students succeed in their learning and has worked extensively to ensure the College’s framework is focused on providing individual learning pathways for all students.

With the world and education constantly changing, embracing new and innovative strategies and building a learning culture that values excellence and promotes tenacity, resilience and creativity, is a big part of his role – and an area that, for Mark, brings great professional reward.
