Parents & Friends’ Association

The Parents and Friends’ Association Inc (P&F) organise and run meetings held on the third Monday of each month commencing at 7.00pm at the P&F Pavilion (near Briggs Oval). The meetings are always both interesting and informative as parents discuss together issues arising from four general areas of interest.

The first of these is to raise supplementary funds to assist in the educational aims of the College. In this regard the P&F have been tremendously successful over the years, contributing significant funds toward a number of large and small projects including the P&F pavilion, the Junior School and Middle School landscaping projects, and airconditioning in the Middle and Senior Schools to name a few.

The financial success of the P&F is reflected in not only their current balance sheet but also their commitment to long term sustainability of providing additional funds by way of developing a share portfolio that is, in turn, supported by annual commitments to increase the portfolio that will eventually lead to consistent, significant cash flows to support College projects in the future. This approach is highly commendable and is indicative of the way that the P&F has evolved to become a great source of support.

The second function of the P&F is to provide a forum for discussion of educational and College specific issues in a relatively informal setting. These discussions within the P&F meetings are productive, positive ways for information, and sometimes concerns, to be shared and discussed.

The third general aim is to increase familiarity and a sense of belonging between families. To that end the P&F arrange both formal and informal opportunities to meet and enjoy each other’s company.

Finally, providing support to College staff to ensure appropriately outstanding hospitality at our home sports games is also a challenge for the P&F. During winter in particular, manning the canteen and helping at barbecues is both socially rewarding and enhances the whole experience of sport for our children. There is no doubt that Saturday winter sport appears to be a really valuable experience for students, staff and parents, making connections to ensure the very best for our children.
