Public Speaking & Debating

The skills of debating and public speaking are highly valued at the College, across all year levels of participation. It is our belief that students should be encouraged to express themselves in clear and stimulating ways through a number of external competitions and intra-school challenges.

There is opportunity to benefit from a Toastmaster’s Course in Years 11 and 12 where students have the forum to showcase their public speaking skills. Also popular is the Lions’ Youth of the Year Public Speaking Competition in which our students have performed with great success.

Participation in Apex and QDU Debating competitions provides students with strong competition from competing schools in this region and Brisbane. Students may commence competition debating in Year 8.
