Boarding enriches a student’s appetite for life so much more than just learning. All SCOTS PGC boarders have access to the College’s co-curricular programme and can choose from activities like music, drama, equestrian, pipe band and sport. These additional learning areas expose students to developing cultural and athletic abilities, as well as academic development.
Many boarders have in fact chosen careers in their field of extra-curricular interest once they have graduated from SCOTS PGC.
During their stay, boarders also have access to the College’s state-of-the-art facilities including tennis courts, ovals, gymnasium, indoor sports centre, Agricultural Club, Industrial Technology and Graphic Centre, Chapel, library and computer laboratories. The College is also a corporate member of an excellent 18-hole golf course that the students can play at.
On weekends, students can participate in a variety of organised events and excursions, from camping trips, socials to ten-pin bowling, to visits to Brisbane’s art galleries and more. Students also participate in community service events such as tree plantings and the annual Red Shield Appeal for the Salvation Army. A weekly activity schedule is organised for boarders for each term in advance.
An example of a typical weekend’s activity schedule for boarders may include:
- Sports including park run, touch, hockey, netball and rugby
- Trip to Suncorp Stadium to see the Wallabies
- Girls BBQ/Camp fire and movie night
All parents must sign an activity payment and permission form.
