CONTACT SCOTS PGC

Boarding

SCOTS PGC has been a co-educational boarding school since 1917. Since that time thousands of students from around Australia and overseas have boarded at SCOTS PGC whilst they study at school, play sport and actively take part in the College community. They have developed friendships for life and learned new life skills. SCOTS PGC presently offers positions for 200 boarders in separate boarding campuses for boys and girls from Year 6 through to Year 12.

Health and wellbeing whilst boarding

At SCOTS PGC, we place great importance on the health and wellbeing of our students. All of our College community – both day and boarding students, and staff – are provided meals at school during the day. Our menus are prepared by a dietician to ensure the right nutritional approach is applied to every meal. Learn More

After hours enrichment for a boarder

Boarding enriches a student’s appetite for life so much more than just learning. All SCOTS PGC boarders have access to the College’s co-curricular programme and can choose from activities like music, drama, equestrian, pipe band and sport. These additional learning areas expose students to developing cultural and athletic abilities, as well as academic development. Learn More

Typical Day for a boarder

Home to a boarder whilst at SCOTS PGC is their own room complete with bed, study desk and ample storage. Students are able to decorate their rooms and make themselves feel comfortable in their surroundings. All rooms are air-conditioned/heated and have access to monitored Wi-Fi. A boarder’s typical day starts before breakfast and ends with a variety of opportunities including sport, study, socialising, playing music or tv. Learn More

Info for parents on boarding

When you’re child is not living at home, there are things that still need to be taken care of from a personal perspective like medical, laundry, safety and security, and worship. We provide the essentials, but also teach students to be independent and take care for themselves where possible. Learn More

This is the best opportunity in my life that I have ever been given. At SCOTS PGC we have opportunities for all to excel, where every pupil has the chance to thrive, achieve and compete at the highest level in a huge variety of fields, whether it be in academic, sport, drama or music.
As a specialist co-educational boarding school we prepare our young people for the real world by introducing them to an independent and responsible approach to life. Our boarding environment provides a safe and secure space with excellent academic tutoring support.

The College has separate boarding campuses for boys and girls allowing students to enjoy the benefits of single and mixed gender activities. Our boarding emphasis provides experiences and support that nurture effective, resilient and enthusiastic learners. We are sensitive to the needs of adolescents whilst still promoting sound personal development. This means we seek to strike a balance between personal freedom and group responsibility; the school day and ‘home’; learning and self-motivation.

Our boarding facilities are purpose-built. Boarders at SCOTS PGC enjoy their own personal space (room) and have access to common areas where they can relax, play games and enjoy additional stimulation. Students enjoy healthy meals prepared in consultation with a dietician and have access to monitored Wi-Fi.

All students are cared for by live-in residential supervisors and have a routine that helps them manage the time-scheduling of the day so they can complete school, extra-curricular activities, study and dining, as well as have some down-time.

Weekend facilities at the College include an outstanding gymnasium, modern Industrial Technology, Graphics and Manual Arts Centre, computer rooms, library and resource centre, and extensive outside sporting facilities. We also deliberately bring the outside world into boarding education so that it can play a broadening role in adolescent development. A modest annual levy entitles a boarder to many organised weekend activities and school socials throughout the year. Optional weekend activities include trips to Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Toowoomba for cultural and ‘fun’ outings.
